Digital skills combined with competence and character qualities are very essential in this era of the gig economy. Focusing on giving learners very strong foundational skills and exposing them to the real world where they are able to identify real-life challenges and come up with solutions.
Tunapanda Institute is a non-profit social enterprise that runs intensive 3-month technology, design, and business training courses in extreme low-income environments in East Africa, such as Kibera (Nairobi informal settlement) and Turkana (very rural Kenya).
It works to bridge the digital divide by empowering young people to be lifelong learners, earners, and problem solvers. By focusing on information technology, Tunapanda allows more young people to utilize new technologies to increase their employable skills, networks, and earning potential.
Tunapanda’s unique approach of learning involves a series of training and coaching to help learners develop strong critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills alongside entrepreneurial and digital literacies. A unique culture of learning can only be achieved through a positive mindset and open response to feedback.
This is a core part of Tunapanda Institute, where learners are introduced to this culture allowing them to positively share and receive feedback.
