Miss Universe 2019, the 68th edition of the Miss Universe competition, was held on December 8, 2019, at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, the United States. Catriona Gray of the Philippines crowned her successor Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa by the end of the event. This is South Africa’s third win after their recent victory in 2017.
The initial 90 contestants were narrowed down to 20 semifinalists during a closed-door competition prior to Sunday’s three-hour live TV event. And following a series of traditional pageant-style events — including the ever-popular swimsuit and evening gown rounds — this year’s Top 10 was revealed: Colombia, France, Iceland, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Thailand and the United States.
South Africa, Mexico and Puerto Rico were the finalists and the three women faced off for the crown as the evening came to a close.
Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi was named the winner. Second place went to Miss Puerto Rico Madison Anderson.
