Police in Narok have arrested two Maasai Mara University students who were busted baking ‘weed’ cakes.

Weed is slang for cannabis sativa or marijuana.

They were arrested following numerous complaints from the public over suspicious activity inside Total Estate.

Officers then ambushed the students and found them baking 56 weed cakes that they were apparently planning to sell for Ksh.100 each.

The two have been identified as Richard Omondi, 25, who is enrolled for a Diploma in Tourism Wildlife and Elizabeth Abayo, 23, who is studying Computer Science.

According to Narok CCO Zachary Kariuki, the cakes are sold to unsuspecting students who are slowly lured into the business.

The police boss warned that anyone linked to the crime including landlords and their tenants will be incarcerated.

Jacob Jomo, the Estate chairman lauded police for their quick and urged landlords to vet prospective and current tenants.

The two suspects were taken to the Narok Police Station awaiting to be charged in court next week.
