Last week was another dope week in the hip-hop world! A lot of good projects dropped.
Here is your weekly dose of hip-hop news.
Griselda is continuing with their ferocious run this year. Earlier this year, Westside Gunn dropped a great body of work (Pray for Paris), Conway The Machine followed by another concrete body of work (From King to a God), and now Benny The Butcher has dropped yet another very concrete body of work (Burden of Proof). Burden of Proof is up for any rap album of the year debate. You can listen to Legend from the album below.
T.I. also dropped his eleventh studio album – The L.I.B.R.A (The Legend Is Back Running Atlanta). The star-studded album features both old and lil’ OGs – some of the guest rappers in the album include Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, Rapsody, Jadakiss, Benny The Butcher, Lil Baby, Young Thug, among others. This might not be one of the dopest rap albums to drop this year, but still, this is a decent album for T.I. fans to vibe with.
At last, TDE fans have something to hold on to while waiting for Kendrick Lamar to drop a follow up to his 2017 critically-acclaimed studio album, DAMN.. REASON, the youngest rapper of the TDE roster, dropped a really good album (The New Beginnings). This is REASON’s first proper album, if compared to There You Have It. Also, as Zack of Zack and Mel Talk Music podcast said, this is REASON’s first full body of work after his world recognition following the blow-up of LamboTruck single track off Revenge of the Dreamers III. You can listen to Fall from the album below.
Black Thought finally dropped the third instalment of his Streams of Thought series – Streams of Thought Vol. 3: Cain & Abel. The 13-song project features guests such as Swizz Beatz, Killer Mike, Pusha T (all on one song – Good morning), among others. Listen to Good morning below.
Ty Dolla $ign is set to drop his fourth album this week on Friday. The album’s title is Featuring Ty Dolla $ign :). If you know how many features Dolla $ign has done since he released his last album then you know how funny that title is.
For the parting shots, I have a question: What’s your industry predictions, in terms of the quality and quantity of music that will be released in Q1 2020? Tweet your answer to @TalkMusic3. Don’t forget to follow Zack and Mel Talk Music podcast on Twitter and Instagram.
