There’s anger, disappointment, sorrow and the feeling of oppression all over social media from the affected students regretting why they chose this public university. The students are saying ‘I wish ningejua niki make selection’ and ‘kuna possibility ya transfer aki’. So what is behind this whole disaster and anger?
Allegedly, the university made arrangements so that all the students in /14, /16, /17, /18 can report back to school this September. They even went ahead and transferred some of their students to their minor branches i.e.; West campus and Kitale campus. The students to report to the main campus were warned that they should be ready to make private accommodation since the number to report was larger than usual. Most of the students were all set and ready to report on September 4, 2017, but the university (due to poor planning I supposed) pushed the dates back to September 14, 2017.
The students were okay with the dates until September 4th where rumours started going around their WhatsApp groups that /17 were not to report on September 14th as communicated earlier hence they’re probably to report on January 2018. This triggered a lot of anger from the /17 students who had already made arrangements for their accommodation, paid their school fees and others claim to have quit their jobs to report back to school on the 14th September 2017.
The university should have communicated earlier because they are wasting this students life. Most of the students would have made prior arrangements and gotten a job or enrolled in courses e.g. CPA, by now which they’re already too late for. Apparently, this has been going on for years, but no comrades have been able to do anything about the inconveniences caused.
Enough is enough they say. This is a cry for help since Moi university is clearly just a name. Shout out to the minister of education Dr Matiang’i to look into the issue and confirm this is the reality of the situation. WARNING to all the parents and students admiring to Join the university in the near future. SELECT MOI UNIVERSITY AT YOUR OWN RISK, (or out of lack of option as most of the students there did.)To the people who list the universities in order from the best, please stop lying to people that the university is second best, place the university where it belongs which is without a doubt second last. Call a spade a spade and not a big spoon.
Be sure that if you report to the university in 2020, expect to finish in 2030.With that being said, my apologies to all the /17 students who have totally been wasted. Sadly this is just the beginning. We can’t change the past, but we can for sure look forward to a better future. With that being said, Moi University management please take Responsibility!!!
