30% Of The National Budget To Be Allocated To Education Says Uhuru

Addressing thousands of youths attending the Global Citizen Festival in Johannesburg South Africa on Sunday, December 3rd 2018, President Uhuru Kenyatta said his administration will go beyond the global expectation of 20 per cent National budget allocation to education, to reach 30% which will make it the highest in Africa.

In a video clip circulated by Presidential Strategic Communication Unit PSCU to the media houses, the president said, “I want to go one step further and this year I pledge to you my global citizens, that in Kenya our education budget making it probably the highest on the African continent.”

Being United Nations Global Champion for young people’s Agenda, President Kenyatta has a responsibility of pushing for the placement of every young person into quality education training or employment by 2030.

The event which was organized to coincide the celebration of 100 years since the birth of former South African President Nelson Mandela, was aimed at pushing for the full implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), set by UN’s General Assembly in 2015 geared towards transforming the world by 2030.

The event was attended by various leaders including President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Celebrities such as Wizkid, Davido, Beyonce, Jay Z, Usher, and Naomi Campbell brought together over 200,000 young people.
