If you thought paying back your HELB loan is a hustle, imagine being these guys from Kenyatta University being charged with burning Sh102 million worth of property.

Some Background

Some KU students weren’t happy with the results of last year’s student union elections and in November burnt down the old admissions block leading to the university being closed.

Seven students were arrested for the arson on January 9 and were yesterday officially charged in a Kiambu court.

The students denied the charges and asked the court to consider their status as learners.

Their lawyers also accused police of infringing on their privacy by confiscating their phones with the claim that they were used for incitement.
