On thursday night, former UoN student leader was shot dead by goons who are alleged to be “mungiki” at club 36 market commonly known as “klabu”.
Samuel Ragira commonly referred to as OCS Ragira met his death after a confrotation with the said goons who are reported to be terrorrising traders and students at the market which is a favourite joint for students who go there to buy mostly food stuff.
The goons are said to be collecting money from traders at the market, charging them for building stalls on that piece of land.
Before he met his death on thursday OCS Ragira had tried to iron out issues raised by both students and taders by convening a meeting that came up with a commitee of 11 members, that would seek to bring a lasting solution.
He claimed to have reported the issue to the police but everything was happening under their watch.
He posted on his facebook page on 13th wednesday saying,
“It is unfortunate that Mungiki are terrorising Klabu 36 traders with pangas and guns taking advantage of the situation. They’re demanding 10K from every trader to build a kibanda. This issue is disturbing as the police are watching it happen. Students are being harassed and others losing their phones.
“We want to know why the police can side with people terrorising innocent Kenyans. Why should a mama mboga pay 10K to unknown people to do business? Are we managed by terrorists in the name of police?
“I reported this matter to Jogoo house control room and police were sent but they instead resorted to ignore the situation. We now appeal to the County government and National government to tell us who are these criminals. We cannot allow. Personally I was threatened by a panga. So where are we heading as a nation? Sad!

This came a day after he had a meeting that was aimed at looking into the issue.
Ragira was shot on the left side of his upper body. His back had a bullet wound with blood oozing from it.
It is however unclear whether he was shot from the back or in the chest.
His body was picked from the scene at 8p.m on Thursday and taken to City Mortuary leading to University of Nairobi students camping outside the City Mortuary condeming strongly the murder of Mr. Ragira.
