it was celebration across the country with fireworks dazzling the skies as Kenyans joined the world in welcoming the new year 2019 in style, concerts were held in different cities and towns treating people to song and dance as they waited to cross over to 2019.
Here in Nairobi the people were spoilt for choice, some went to KICC for the TOTALLY SOLD OUT concert where they were treated to songs by different artistes while others went for the Wasafi Concert at Uhuru gardens that saw the performance of both local and international artistes, including Morgan Heritage from Jamaica and Diamond Platinumz and the Wasafi crew from the neighboring Tanzania. Churchill show had a crossing over show at garden city that saw the attendance of Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore and former presidential candidate Peter Kenneth.
Nakuru residents had the Vuka Mwaka Concert at Afraha stadium, that was organized by MBCI ministries in conjunction with Royal Media Services that treated attendees to a worship and praise experience as they ushered in the New year. Eldoret residents attended Pamoja concert at the Eldoret Sports club where they were entertained by different gospel artistes both local and international including Emmy Kosgei and Upendo Nkome from Tanzania.
Thika town joined EMB records for the EMB Jesus Party concert for a worship and praise experience where they were entertained by different gospel artistes including Bahati and Gloria Muliro.
political leaders including Deputy president William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga also sent their new year messages to the nation through their social media handles . Raila said,
‘‘ The end o the year and the beginning o another is always a hopeful time, as we wind down 2018, i join you fellow Kenyans in your hopes and wish you a rewarding 2019. while 2018 began as a difficult year, we end it on a hopeful and sane note. i am confident that brighter days are ahead o us…….whenever we eel we have lost our way we can, we can retrace our steps or we can continue down the same wrong path and ace its ugly consequences, its all within our power to make these choices,…happy new year fellow Kenyans”
