70 students of Outspan Medical College pursuing Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences, did not graduate today because of a stand-off between them and the administration. The students are demanding a fee refund, this is after they were discontinued from the course due to directive ofKenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board.

One of the students said they have wasted 2 years of training and Ksh. 400,000 in form of fees. “The board has refused to index us given that we were admitted using wrong criteria. We are asking the school administration to take full responsibility for this mess,” he said.

The College Director Mr Macharia, blamed the board for causing confusion. “The grades we admitted students to the course was guided by the criteria issued by the board in a letter dated July 19, 2012 letter” he said. “The letter from the board reviewed the entry grades for diploma students from C plain to C- (minus)” he added.
