I’m a students leader at KIST (Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology). The last term 26th February we the students demonstrated demanding the school administration to adhere and to abide to our school constitution…
We raised concern on high fees payment subjected to our parents and guardians which is 15-20thousands high compared to other TVET institutes..
We have a feeling that the management is handling things on their concept without considering the students’ affairs at all…
The school was closed indefinitely on that immediate day and the whole issue was on media for 2 weeks..
These included criticism directed to police brutality subjected to comrades..
The college was reopened 2 weeks and nothing has changed in fact our grievances were made rules and our parents were forced to sign them just to secure son/daughters stay in the school…
What is going on now is total intimidation by the management…
- They forced students to report back accompanied by parents what they called readmission where they were asking irrelevant questions in the so-called panels…
- These have resulted to 368 comrades failing to report back to school which has resulted to failure of registration for KNEC July series…
My fellow comrades and I feel these issues should be revisited despite the intimidation…
The constitution has allowed us
The management has been acting as demigods to oppression but I believe comrades are not put down by these…
How the hell can KIST pay fee 15-20thousands higher compared to other institutes??
How can an institute deny comrades right to sit for their KNEC exams with no disciplinary issues how??
