The varsity students’ association chairman Wangila Wabomba says sending home of VC Prof Japheth Magambo by education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed on March 6 is not enough to cool them down.
“We’ve agreed we are not going back unless the other two are sent home and an audit of expenditure is conducted. They are part of problems bedeviling the institution,” Wabomba said.
“Nursing learners have no equipment, no exhibitions, and practicals. We just do theoretical studies,” he said.
Hostels can only accommodate 500 students, student center accommodates 72 students, forcing students to take meals in several shifts.
“Only a single clean water pipe in the entire main campus. Others we have in hostels do not provide clean water. We flush toilets using tins and the bushy institution is only cleared days to graduations. We are learning in a pathetic institution and these issues must be addressed before we head back” he adds.
Students pay Sh5, 500 per semester for cubicle shared by four students. The student leader also wants suspended students like controversial blogger Cyprian Nyakundi reinstated.
He says, Nyakundi, an Actuarial Science student, was suspended in 2012 for fighting for students’ rights.
