News making rounds on social media that Migori Governor Okoth Obado doesn’t have a case in the murder of Sharon Otieno as the prosecution say they lack adequate evidence is false. The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution clarified on Twitter saying that the DPP has not & does not intend to drop murder charges against Migori Governor Okoth Obado as claimed on social media Obado & his 2 co-accused are charged with 2 counts of murder of former Rongo University Student Sharon Otieno & her unborn baby
The very expectant Sharon Otieno was kidnapped and later murdered back in September 2018. She disappeared in Migori and was found dead and body dumped in Kodera forest. Until her death, Sharon was pursuing a degree in Medical Records and Information at Rongo University.
The case has been on and off, but the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution has declared its commitment to bringing the perpetrators of the sad incident to book. However, the murder suspects Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero, have recently asked that Justice Lessit be withdrawn from the case. In an application, the two stated that the judge would not deliver a fair trial. According to Citizen Digital, the two accused the judge of making prejudicial remarks while she declined to release them on bail. However, the DPP says the two have not produced evidence to justify the judge’s recusal.
Sharon’s tragic death is just but one of the many cases of love related murders of women victims. We hope that the case is solved fairly.
