Moi University men showcased huge talent against the Division Two side

Division Two side Huruma United had a tough time handling Moi University school team alias Field Marshalls, in a friendly held in Huruma on Sunday. The Eldoret based team began the match on a high note with their lone striker Randa giving the Marshalls defence of Cargo, Shiveka and Okollo a hard time.

Huruma United were the first to get an opener through the lethal Randa in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, the lead was not meant to last long as Eugene and Chris all blended by the creative Job alias Pirlo, made back to back counter attacks.

The equalizer came on the 38th minute when Don connected a fantastic pass from Pirlo to Eugene who then Crossed it to Chris on the left corner, to score. Huruma United coach Fred could not hide his disappointment especially with his team being overruled at home. Both teams attacked very well in the last five minutes if the first half, with Pirlo’s free kick getting saved.

The second half witnessed both coaches making changes to their squad with Coach Alphonce of Marshalls bringing in a new squad. Huruma’s coach Fred maintained his first eleven making a few changes in the first quarter of the second half.

Marshalls possessed the match incredibly in the beginning with Ologi and Phelo’s midfield experience bearing fruit. Otto’s pace in the left wing was an added advantage though Ishmael’s shots got saved by Huruma’s keeper with two others flying over the bar.

However, Huruma got new energy when Coach Fred introduced new faces in the midfield. The Division Two side got back to possessing ways and almost got a second goal thanks to Kevin’s save. Huruma’s wingbacks seems to have new energy with their speed bearing two consecutive corners that didn’t bear much danger.

In the 75th minute, something unusual happened and cost the home team a win when Huruma’s defender decided to give his keeper a back pass when the pressure was mounting. Unfortunately, the keeper’s left leg missed the ball, that Mohammed of Marshalls did not need to kick. The ball rolled smoothly into their own net rewarding the University men with a second goal.

The atmosphere changed, with Huruma fans and technical bench showcasing sombre faces. Despite the own goal, the home men continued pressing but Mohammed and Chege’s combination in the defence dealt well with the Huruma strikers. Although Chege got injured in the last minutes, Kenas replaced him quite well with Phelo also getting back to defence. At the front, Don combined well with Muia with the latter’s shot being saved.
