In world news, a man set himself on fire in a park near the White House yesterday. Luckily, cops saved him by quickly surrounding him and extinguishing the fire. He was taken down by cops while fully engulfed in flames. However, it appears he might have been wearing some sort of protective suit on because he was not collapsing as he strolled across the lawn with the Washington Monument in the background, just less than a mile from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.More than 70 officers swarmed the area from multiple agencies. Several tourists were in the area but no one else was injured.
As TMZ reports, according to the emergency dispatch audio, the man suffered burns on 85% of his body. There was also a suspicious package on fire near the man which was extinguished. A law enforcement source told TMZ the man was transported to the hospital with “life threatening” injuries.
The Secret Service is aware of the incident, but no further details have been released on the matter.
